Designed as art. Made to be lived with.

I trained as a painter — oils, acrylics, years of it — before I ever thought about rugs. What pulled me in wasn't the rug industry. It was a gap I kept running into in my own home: I wanted floors that felt like art, but everything in the designs I loved was either a museum piece or priced like one. Beautiful, but not something you'd actually let three kids walk across barefoot.

So I started designing my own. Patterns first — the same instinct as painting, just on a different surface. Then I taught myself the parts nobody tells you about: how a print actually gets onto fabric, how factories work, how to turn a design you love into something that ships. Flora started as one rug I couldn't find anywhere else, and it grew from there, faster than I expected.

Every piece in the collection is designed or reworked in my own studio. Some started as patterns I fell completely in love with — old textiles, antique prints, things I stumbled on — and I made them mine: reworking the colour, the scale, the detail, until they felt like Flora. Others are mine from the first sketch. Either way, nothing goes into the collection as-is.

That's the whole idea behind Flora: pieces you choose because they move you, not pieces you're afraid to actually live with.
